The Absent Threshold Widget helps administrators, tutors, and year heads quickly identify students who have been absent for a specific number of days within a chosen date range. It also allows you to notify parents directly from the dashboard, making follow-up fast and efficient.

Go to Dashboard → Absent Threshold Widget.
Set Your Filters - Choose the date range you want to review. and select the absence threshold such as 3, 5, 10 days, or any other available option. The widget instantly updates to show all students who meet your criteria.
Review the Student List - A list of students who have reached or exceeded the selected threshold will appear. This helps you quickly pinpoint who may need follow-up or support. Tutors and Year Heads have the additional option to filter by their own tutor students/yearhead students via the widget.
Send a Notification to Parents - Click on a student’s name to begin the notification process. Choose whether to use a saved message template or write a custom message.
The system will also warn you if a parent is not eligible to receive notifications, allowing you to take alternative action if needed.
Important note on permissions and access for staff:
Principals and secretaries have access to this feature by default.
If a teacher needs access, they need the 'Allow teacher access to absent threshold widget' permission in Users and Groups. This will allow teachers see only students they teach within Absence threshold widget. They will also need the permission ''Allow teacher access to all learner profiles' in order to see all students including those they do not teach.
Managing Templates
To create or edit message templates used in the widget:
Go to Admin → Notifications → Templates.
Here you can maintain a set of pre-written messages for quick, consistent communication. Ideal for repeated threshold notifications.
